The urban app game “Traces” developed in the course of a research project combines mechanisms of a serious game with location-based gamification elements, integrates the latest technologies (eg smartphone sensing, NFC, geofencing) and makes use of sound behavior change theories (eg MAX self-regulation model, flow theory , FOGG model) back.
Content and objectives
The project objective was to playfully promote smart people mobility. The urban app game “Traces” attempts to break up the individual mobility routines through positive gaming experience, in which, depending on the current transport preferences of the players, new, smart mobility alternatives are “brought into play”. “Make gray Vienna more colorful” is the motto of “Traces”, which links real and virtual worlds and creates a common goal.
