Around 1.5 million people have already lived through the beginning of the enthralling detective story of the first part of the location-based adventure game saga. Now, the successor has finally been adapted for the latest Symbian Touch-Smartphones of Nokia. All the in-game graphics have been adapted for current, brilliant high resolution screens. Through this, it's now finally possible to experience the birth of location based adventure games (first release in 2004) in an up-to-date environment. "The Journey II" will soon be available in the Ovi Store!
"The Journey I" - New Touchscreen Version

A new release of "The Journey I" is now available in the Ovi Store. The update to v1.40 is only relevant for touchscreen devices and features a new icon following the style of Symbian Anna, plus minor bugfixes with regards to menu handling. For non-touch devices, version 1.33 (S60 3rd and 5th Edition) / 1.13 (Series 60 1st and 2nd Edition) are still available.
"The Journey I" - Updated Release

Starting with today, version 1.33 of "The Journey" is available for S60 3rd and 5th Edition devices. It removes the compatibility warning during installation on 5th Edition devices that was shown with the previous release. Additionally, a short introductionary text explains the general game concept when first starting the game. Plus: the ingame text of the German and English version has been slightly improved. You can download the new Symbian Signed version plus the source code from the download section or search for the game on the Ovi Store.
"The Journey I" - Touchscreen support

To make the game compatible to the touch screen phones based on S60 5th Edition, "The Journey" has been updated to v1.32. The new release combines support for both touch and non-touch phones. The game is Symbian Signed and can therefore be installed on all compatible phones. As usual, the updated source code is available for free download (licensed under GPL v3).

The Journey has been updated with new graphics and is now compatible to all S60 3rd Edition phones, including the new Nokia N95 and E90 Communicator — download it now! The application is Symbian Signed and available as freeware. You can also download the source code, which is released under the GPL license.

Speech at the E-Day of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber

On March 1st, Andreas Jakl will give a speech in the main hall of this year's E-Day of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. This is one of Austria's biggest events for companies, with about 3.500 expected visitors. The topic of the speech is "Best Practice", demonstrated using the successful project RealReplay. UI-Library used in cutting edge NFC project

The powerful user interface library that Mopius developed for its project RealReplay is now in use in a unique NFC-research (Near Field Communication) project. 100 participants were chosen to take part in a unique field trial involving the use of mobile phones for various services like payment and access through NFC. To provide a comfortable user experience and to hide the complexities involved in the technology, the user interface library of Mopius was licensed. "The Journey" to be updated

The mobile, location-based adventure game The Journey is about to be re-released in a brand new, updated version. Compatible to the latest S60 3rd Edition mobile phones, the game has been improved in many aspects. For example a new graphics engine presents the complete game art as scalable vector graphics, allowing the game to provide the best visual quality on any screen size. The game is currently being tested by Symbian Signed to ensure maximum compatibility and safety - as soon as this process is completed, the game will again be released for free and the full source code will be made available under the GPL licence.

A redesigned version of the popular site previously called "Mobile Developer's Aid" has now been unveiled: the new title as well as location is: symbianresources.com. Featuring a new and fresh layout, the site continues to provide high quality material for Symbian OS training for free. Additionally, the site does now feature an overview of the most interesting Symbian OS projects created at the University of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg, Austria as well as by Mopius. An extended Links-section has been updated with the best Symbian OS sites, helping developers to find further material.
Symbian's "Because of the Code"-Competition

To celebrate the news that 100 Million Symbian smartphones have shipped up to now, Symbian held a contest called "Because of the Code". It required submitting up to 100 lines of Symbian OS code that had to provide interesting solutions or elegant ways to master a challenge. Entries submitted by Andreas Jakl are among the top 10 winning entries, which were selected (according to Symbian): "[...] thanks to their combinations of usefulness, reusability, sophistication, innovation, simplicity, and correctness."
Forum Nokia Champion

New and fresh Online-Tutorials

The popular site provided by Mopius featuring developer resources for Symbian OS has been updated with new content. Several hundred slides covering many topics from basic development for Symbian OS to more advanced subjects like the Multimedia Framework or Platform Security are now available for free. They were created for the Symbian OS courses of the winter semester 2006/07 at the University of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg and are based on the latest release of Symbian OS. Guest speech at the Genius Award 2006

After being one of the winners of last year's Genius-award, Mopius was invited again this year to speak about the award, the projects and the company. Apart from the nice gala evening and the honor to be invited again, it resulted in an article in one of Austria's most important newspapers, Der Standard.
Austrian State Price for RealReplay

Great news from yesterday's gala of the Austrian State Price for Multimedia and e-business - the jury chose our upcoming product RealReplay as the winner of its category! While the jury criticised a lack of innovation in other categories, after a hands on test they found it in RealReplay - from the official statement: "The jury was convinced by the idea as well as the realization, which is very simple to use."
